Greetings from Principal Julie Craven
Dear RAUC Families,
Happy 2017! We are delighted to welcome students back to school. They brim with ideas and questions that remind us daily why we love what we do. We hope that the learning previews featured in each newsletter help you keep in touch with your student’s classroom experiences and spark conversations at home about the learning going on here at school.
These early weeks of the new year bring several events that promote one of our new RAUC core values, seek Unity: a January 20th school dance sponsored by 6th grade families, a January 7th DC Fundraising event, and our One Voice, One Sound February 2nd concert. Please read on for more details about these wonderful community events.
Here’s to a great year!
Julie Craven

Help Make Our First RAUC School Dance of 2017 a Success!
This is an invitation to all families, especially to 6th grade families. Each of the three annual RAUC dances is organized by one of the grades and this dance is being organized by your 6th Grade Liaison, Gissela Rendon. There are plenty of ways to support the kids at this dance - donate snacks, volunteer some time to set-up/sell tickets, serve food, or clean-up.
Sign up on Google forms (http://bit.ly/2iLbCpf) or email Gissela Rendon, [email protected].
The dance is Friday, January 20th, 6 - 8PM in the RAUC Cafeteria.
Tickets are $5 and can be bought at school or at the door. Tickets cover admission; students are invited to bring some money to buy pizza, water, and other snacks.
One Voice, One Sound Concert:
February 2nd
Community Dinner: 5:15 - 5:45PM in the cafeteria
Concert: 6PM in the gym (performers to gym at 5:30PM)
Please mark your calendars!
As you know, one of our new RAUC core values is to seek Unity. On Thursday, February 2, RAUC will celebrate our students as we come together in one voice, one sound, to make music. Start the evening eating dinner as a community. The school will provide pasta and salad. To celebrate the many cultures that enrich our school, we invite families to bring a dish to share as well. The concert will be held in the gym, featuring students performing in the Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Urban Legends, and Jazz Band.
Please be sure to label ingredients if you do bring a dish to share.
