Ms. Saillant Honored with Award!

Gisel Sailant, 6th grade social studies, has been selected as the recipient of the Richard Aieta Promising Teacher Award given by the Massachusetts Council for the Social Studies. As the council describes, "This award is presented annually to a social studies teacher, new to the profession, who has made an impact on their students, colleagues, and the community during their first five years of teaching." As her students and colleagues know, Ms. Saillant is indeed a RAUC Star!

Spring Learning Partners Conference
As noted in last week’s newsletter, teachers are looking forward to connecting with families in March around our shared goal of supporting all students to Aim high! Spring conferences will follow the same format as the fall: families sign up for a 20 minute time slot; within that time they will have five minutes with each of the four core academic teachers. Below please find the dates for each grade level and specials. Click here to sign up.

7th grade: Wed. 3/22; 8AM - 3:20PM
8th grade: Thur. 3/23; 8AM - 3:20PM

School Unity Week
Students in the School Spirit elective are leading a fun week of showing unity by dressing according to a daily theme. We’ve had Pajama Day Monday and Twin Day Tuesday. Still to come: Wednesday Hat Day, Thursday Sports Day, and the grand finale of Fancy Friday!

Testing

MCAS 2.0
All CPS students will take the MCAS 2.0 this spring. Last year students took the PARCC assessment, and prior to that students took the MCAS assessment. The design and content of the MCAS 2.0 is a combination of the aforementioned assessments. Learn more >>

The Incredibles

"The Incredibles" Movie Night
Friday March 10 | 6 - 8PM
All RAUC families--students, siblings and adults, are welcome to wrap up unity week by attending our Friday night showing of "The Incredibles," a movie night fundraiser hosted by the eighth grade to support their annual trip to Washington DC. Tickets are $2 per person at the door, and we will have concessions available for purchase in the lobby. It should be an incredible evening. We hope to see you there!

Cambridge School VolunteersShout out to Cambridge School Volunteers!
The write up about NetPals last week neglected to mention Cambridge School Volunteers (CSV) as the coordinating partner. CSV does a tremendous amount of work in the background to make this wonderful program happen. Apologies for the omission. CSV also staffs a weekly tutoring/homework session at RAUC, in which individual students are paired up with a committed volunteer. We are grateful for their on-going commitment to our students!!
