Greetings from Julie Craven
Dear RAUC Families,

The community continues to hum with activity. Huge thanks to all who made the last dance of the year a success, in particular Sue Matkoski and Shona Simkin for organizing 8th grade parents, as well as the many student, parent, and staff volunteers to set up, sell food, and clean up. We had a great turnout and lots of smiles, despite the rainy weather. Proceeds will help support the DC trip and other end of the year activities.

Academically, students are engaged in a range of thought-provoking activities. 8th graders are finalizing their biomimicry product designs which use ideas from nature to solve human problems; they have also completed editorials on an issue they cared about. In 7th grade, students grappled with the question of whether the benefits of the Great Wall of China outweighed the costs, while in 6th grade they pondered how the Nile shaped ancient Egypt. It has been such a pleasure to ask students at all grade levels about their work--their eyes light up as they explain their ideas or defend their positions. And we are all looking forward to the Spring Concert/Night of Excellence on Thursday, May 18!

Please keep making sure your calendars are marked for the events highlighted in this newsletter.

In unity,

Julie Craven, Head of School
