Greetings from Julie Craven
Dear RAUC Families,
As noted at Back to School Night, we strive to make RAUC a responsive institution. Our Family Engagement Team reviewed the Hopes and Dreams families have for their students. Clear themes emerged.
Families most often expressed these wishes: flourish, grow more confident in yourself and your abilities, develop friendships, love learning, be part of a supportive community, gain skills that will help you get to and succeed in college, try new things, be able to push through challenges.
Families most needed effective communication from the school to support a vibrant home/school partnership, particularly in these areas: knowing teacher expectations for students, clear and concrete ideas about how to help their child with academics, resources for supporting students, advanced notice about events happening at school and in the community.
Thank you for communicating with us. Your priorities will guide us as we continue to build our advisory and academic programs.
In partnership,
Julie Craven, Head of School

Volunteers Needed for Peabody Community Market
On the third Thursday of every month we hold a community market in the school cafeteria. Everyone in our school communities is welcome to come and shop at this market. All the food is free! There are fresh fruits and vegetables (seasonal), grains and pastas, milk and eggs, usually some sort of meat and other staples. We are looking for volunteers to help set up, run and clean up the market. Sign up today >>
I look forward to seeing you at the market next week. All are welcome! Please remember to bring your bags.
Thank you,
Ellen
(RAUC parent of Owen in 8th grade and Graham in 6th grade)
Exciting News from Art Teacher Ms. Lee
Ms. Lee will be in Japan October 20 - 28! Here is her description of the event: “In the upcoming week, I will be working with Piranha NYC (a video production company) and Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) on a national campaign, in which four other travelers and I will explore the culture and hidden treasures nestled in the Tohoku region of Japan. Through my work in food photography, these two organizations invited me to audition and become a part of the trip. Our adventures will be recorded into 4-5 webisodes, with the goal of raising awareness and promoting tourism in this northern region. While I will miss my lovely students for a week, I could not pass up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I was able to arrange to have the same sub cover my art classes all week to minimize disruptions to students. She is reliable and a familiar face at RAUC. I have spoken to my students about how this is an example of some of the pathways art can open up in a person's life and I look forward to sharing the videos when they are finalized!” RAUC-on, Ms. Lee!
