Greetings from Julie Craven

Dear RAUC Families,

Here are my wishes for all on this short week as we head into Thanksgiving break: May everyone have a safe and happy holiday. May we find joy in the company of family and friends. May membership in our diverse and beautiful RAUC community be a comfort to those for whom holidays can be difficult times.

Part of being in a diverse community includes acknowledging that we do not all share the same experience. For many with Native American origin, the Thanksgiving story as traditionally told can be a painful reminder of historic and current injustices. What brings us together is the commonality of giving thanks, no matter our culture. In that spirit of universal thanksgiving, I am thankful to be in a community grounded in our core values of compassion and unity, and committed to reflecting on how we can continually strive to be the community we aim to be, one where everyone truly feels they belong.

With gratitude,

Julie Craven

Whole School Trip to See Wonder
On Wednesday, November 22, all teachers and students will walk to Fresh Pond to see the movie Wonder. Make sure your student dresses for the weather. The cost is $5. Please make sure your student’s permission slip is in – at this point, a signed note from you is acceptable if you can’t find the form!

8th Grade D.C. Registration Deadline is December 7th
Please register your student by the deadline. That includes making a deposit according to our tiered pricing system. Packets have been given to students. You only need to make the deposit amount appropriate to your lunch paying status. Packets have been given to students. Check their backpacks! You can also see the attached letter and mail-in registration form. Check your email for updates as well. Please don’t hesitate to contact Jose Oliveira with questions – we want everyone to go on this memorable end-of-year trip!

D.C. Scholarship Donations are Welcome!
As noted at Back to School Night, Families of RAUC works to maintain a scholarship cushion to ensure the ability to support our tiered payment system for future DC trips. Tax deductible donations can be made at www.frauc.org or you can drop of a check at school, payable to Families of RAUC, with DC Scholarship Donation noted in memo.

Reminder that Book Fair Starts Right After Thanksgiving Break!
Volunteers needed! The Peabody/RAUC Scholastic Book Fair will take place November 27-December 1! If you like organizing, running a cash register, helping children choose the right book, or otherwise lending a hand, please consider spending an hour or two with us. See the times we need help and sign up here: http://bit.ly/2jq0Nxs.

Note: all volunteers need to complete a CORI with the office at least a week prior to working. This is a very quick process we can easily assist you with!
