RAUC Students Participate in Day of Silence
We are grateful for students committing to action to help us in our aim to be a community truly grounded in unity and compassion. Here’s what students who chose to participate in this day had to say:

All around the world, kids and people in general are being bullied because they decide to follow their dreams and love whomever they want. A lot of the time people take advantage of their words and use them to make people feel bad about who they are. So on the Day Of Silence, students across the nation are dropping their use of words for one day in honor of the people who took a chance and were punished for it. If someone’s different than you, that just makes them unique and brave for coming out. We chose to be silent for a day because being who you are isn’t a crime or something you should feel ashamed of. Thanks for being aware of this!

I participated because a lot of LGBTQ+ students get bullied by classmates. I wanted to raise awareness for that, and as a queer student myself, I felt like I had to do this. I also just wanted to remind people that we are all human.
