kids at book sale

Our First RAUC Summer Reading Book Fair was a Success!
More than 90 students took books home, and I heard over and over from students and parents, "Wow, you have a lot of good books here!" Even those who didn't buy books enjoyed making lists of titles to check out of the library. I look forward to spending 10% of the sales on a stack of new books for our school library. If you didn't get a chance to stop by, you have one more week to shop in the online store: rindge.fantasticbookfairs.com! All books will be delivered to your student at school, and will contribute to our total sales.

Mark Your Calendars for the RAUC Musical
What can we learn from the past and why are those stories important? A group of students struggle to see how three Greek myths connect to their own lives. As they explore the tales of Persephone, Orpheus, and Phaeton, they discover they have much more in common with these ancient characters than they thought.

For the first time ever, the RAUC musical is reinventing a musical from the past! The original script written and performed in 2014 has been reimagined by this new cast. Performances are May 31st & June 1st at 7PM in the RAUC auditorium.

Announcing New School Council Members!
Two parents expressed their interest in being on the School Council, now that two of our current members are all graduating with their 8th graders. As we need three parents, they are unopposed! Thank you to Danielle Tully and Johnny Hazboun for joining Lianne Fisman on the Council. And huge shout out to Aaron Oppenheimer and Kelly Matthews for your multiple years of service. Your ideas and perspectives were invaluable.

teacher appreciation luncheon

Teachers & Staff Appreciate Our Families
Teachers and staff enjoyed the delicious luncheon sponsored by Families of RAUC on last Wednesday’s early release day. Thank you to everyone for your donations of food and time! Thank you also to FRAUC and all families--your fundraising efforts are supporting reduced costs for all 6th and 7th graders on their end of year trips, and adding smiles to the end of the year!

End of Year Field Day
On Thursday, June 21, Mr. O is organizing a “Challenge by Choice” afternoon. There will be running races and other games students can sign up to participate in. It should be a fun way to end the year. Mr. O will handle the sign ups through gym classes. We will share information with students as the plans develop, but we wanted to make sure families were aware that the races that traditionally took place the day before Thanksgiving have found a new home!

7th Grade End of Year Field Trip
Our end of the year class field trip is scheduled for, Friday June 8, to Canobie Lake Park in Windham, New Hampshire. This is our annual celebration of our time together as a 7th grade community. The cost of the field trip is $20 for park admission and transportation. Students will need to bring money if they want to get lunch or snacks at Canobie Lake Park. Lunches will be provided by the school if required. Again, this trip is for the purpose of bringing us together to celebrate the year and have some fun. We want everyone to be able to attend this trip. Students are aware that we expect behavior that promotes a safe, cooperative, and caring environment in our school and out. Any student behavior that violates our school policies leading up to the trip may prohibit them from going. Please let us know if economic hardship may affect your child's attendance, so we can provide assistance. Permission slip and money due by Monday, June 4th. Thank you!

Survey

Got Feedback?
We can't wait to hear from you! CPS is conducting our first annual Family Survey, and we hope to hear from you by June 14th!

If you haven't already received an email or text message, or it's gotten lost in your inbox, check out our Family Survey page and click on your family's school(s). You can also find questions & answers about the survey, view our outreach plan, and even make comments on ways to improve our outreach strategy.

For those who don't have a good way to take it from home, watch for survey-taking stations at events at school. We value your feedback and hope to learn and improve based on what we hear from you.

The survey is part of our continuous improvement efforts, a key component of our CPS District Plan
