Greetings from Julie Craven
Dear RAUC Families,

It was wonderful to welcome students back last week and to see many of you as you dropped off or picked up your students. On Friday, we wrapped up the week of community building with a whole school assembly. Volunteers from each grade level shared their I am from poems and the staff serenaded the students with a rollicking parody of Havanah – aka The Hallway, courtesy of the lyric-writing talents of Ms. Phillips and Mr. DeWitte. We take the time to build community because the more comfortable students feel with their peers and teachers, the more willing they are to take the academic risks necessary to learning. Ask your student what their favorite part of the week was!

This week students follow their regular schedule. We encourage you to use the learning previews to help you engage in conversations about classes with your student. Students do better in school when they see their families and school are connected.

Here’s to a year of strong home-school partnership in support of each student’s success!

Back to School Night is Coming!

Learning Mindfulness Together at RAUC
Four CPS Mindfulness Teachers will be delivering an intensive introduction to mindfulness for the whole school during the Aim High blocks in September. Mindfulness is the skill of bringing the attention back to the present moment with curiosity and kindness. This skill helps us manage difficult emotions and improves focus, self awareness, and impulse control while decreasing anxiety and stress. We can look forward to learning new ways to practice mindfulness, a chance to share how we've been using these tools, and engaging fun activities!

Meet RAUC's New Family Partnership Coordinator!
Hello families! My name is Taraneh Ahmadi and I am the Family Partnership Coordinator at RAUC. Beginning this year, all Upper Schools in Cambridge will have this role and I feel very fortunate that I get to work with our families. As your Family Partnership Coordinator, it will be my goal to assist the school administrators with strategies, activities, and overall efforts to strengthen the school partnerships with every RAUC family. French Teacher Update
We have offered the position to an energetic, creative, skilled teacher--and he accepted! Once the contract is officially signed, we will introduce this newest member of our staff to you. Students can expect a substitute at least through this week and possibly into next week. Fortunately, one person has picked up the work for the week so there is consistency. The World Language Department continues to provide lesson plans to support the substitute.

Public Library Information for Families
Welcome back, RAUC families! The O’Neill Branch of the Cambridge Public Library is open Mondays 10-8, Wednesdays 10-8, Thursdays 10-6, and Fridays 10-6 (closed Tuesdays and weekends). We are open during school vacation weeks as well as half-days! If your middle schooler is looking for a place to spend time in the afternoon, they are welcomed to stay in the library without family adult supervision. Children under the age of 7 however, must be supervised at the library. We have 15 computers that are available for use by anyone with a Minuteman Library Network card. Library cards are free and for people under the age of 14 do not require any identification or proof of address. If your child has lost their library card, we will replace it for free. If you or your child have concerns about overdue or lost library materials, please come and talk to us – we are happy to figure out a solution that works for your family!
