Greetings from Julie Craven
Dear RAUC Families,

It was wonderful to see such a large turnout at our Back to School Night! Thank you for coming in to connect with the school and each other. The cafeteria, then later the classrooms, were buzzing with warmth and positive energy! Our Family Engagement team will be reviewing the hopes and dreams forms, as well as what you said you need from the school to support our partnership. I will share that with the community once it is compiled. I have asked grade level teams to make sure that any materials handed out on Thursday evening are sent home to those families unable to attend.

This week marks the start of our Aim High blocks. Please look further in the newsletter for more information about them. You will also find lots of new opportunities and other helpful information.

Here’s to a wonderful month of learning!
Julie Craven,
Head of School

Winter Coats

Winter Coats at RAUC
Our extra winter coats/outerwear inventory is set up at RAUC and ready to be used! If your middle schooler is in need of a jacket/hoodie, please send them to meet Ms. Ahmadi (Family Partnerships Coordinator) at her office which is across the hall from the main office. Or if you prefer, you can email or call her and she will reach out to the student directly ([email protected] or 617.349.4060 x2041). Thanks to the families that donated items and we welcome more if you have them.

7th Grade CommUNITY Outing
On Friday, October 5th the seventh grade will be traveling by bus to Mt. Wachusett in Princeton, Massachusetts for a community building climb to the top of the mountain, where we will have lunch and participate in some team building activities. The field trip is of no cost but students should pack a bagged lunch to eat at the top. Make sure that your student has notified their teacher if they want a bag lunch from the school. Please do not include any glass bottle containers and do include plastic bottled water for your student. We will conduct the trip within the school day and students should wear appropriate clothing for the weather. It can be up to 10 degrees colder at the top so clothing layers are suggested. Close toed and laced up footwear is highly recommended for the hike. We look forward to a great experience this fall! Permission slips were given out last week--make sure your student has turned in a signed slip.

8th Grade
On Friday, Oct 12th the 8th graders will visit Mount Monadnock from 9AM to 4:30PM. A late bus will be provided to drop students off at the school closest to their home. More information will become available next week. Please make sure you student turns in their signed slip on time.
Aim High
Aiming High at RAUC
We are excited for RAUC to pilot Aim High classes this year. The Aim High block is an intentional program within our school day to provide access, supports, and extensions so all students are adequately challenged to reach their fullest potential. Each Aim High class will have a core teacher as well as a literacy and math specialist. Aim High classes will occur twice a week for 30 minutes starting this Wednesday. Teachers went over the goals with students in advisory Tuesday morning, which are also shared with you below.

Goals of Aim High:

  • Support all students in “Aiming High” (see our core value definition below)
  • Provide students with support to grow in targeted areas based on individual needs and goals
  • Provide enrichment opportunities for students demonstrating proficiency in grade level standards
Aim High RAUC definition - challenge yourself to set high academic and social goals.
  • Reach for academic excellence
  • Keep a Growth Mindset
  • Work hard and persevere
  • Be curious, take risks
  • Maintain integrity
