Greeting from Julie Craven

Dear RAUC Families,

As we wrap up the calendar year and head into winter break, I like to pause to reflect on all there is be grateful for. All of us at RAUC appreciate your role in our home-school partnership--you send your student to school ready to learn, support them at home, and advocate for them when you have concerns. You also have lifted up our community in so many ways--volunteering goods or time at dances, supporting fundraising, contributing to our snack pantry, donating warm coats, attending meetings, or participating in conversations around race and equity, to name just a few.

Invitation to All 6th Grade Families

We hope you can join us on Friday, December 20th at 1:15PM in Ms. Saillant’s classroom to the celebration event for the 6th grade social studies mini-unit, Understanding Race. Students will be sharing personal statements they have written about race, racism and racial identity. (And we will certainly make the work available to all families.) Let us know if you can make it: http://bit.ly/38PqigS. You should have received communication from Ms. Saillant, Ms. Schlosser, and Ms. Gribben describing the project. You can also find that letter attached.

Social-Emotional Tip of the Week

Talking aloud about what certain experiences may feel like can help students anticipate and preview experiences. It can help them develop the ability to pay attention to their feelings, in addition to helping them recognize their own ways of preparing for situations that may be new.
