Equity Update
The district has long prioritized a focus on equity and anti-racism. Julie Craven became Head of School in 2016, the same year Dr. Salim became superintendent. RAUC has been increasing the focus of our own equity work since her arrival. We are proud of all we have done in the past years to deepen our understanding of equity and strengthen our anti-racist actions. We also recognize this is generational work and much remains for us to learn and do.
We know that our students do best when there is a strong home-school partnership and that one of the key elements of a strong partnership is trust. We are committing the second newsletter of the month to providing an equity update, in the hopes of strengthening that trust.
This month we start with an introduction to RAUC equity work through a conversation with the School Council, in three parts:

Question #1: Why is it important to you that our RAUC community focuses on equity?

Question #2: How does it benefit our community when everyone is open about the equity work that they’re doing?

Tech Corner
Check out the 23 amazing entries in our first-ever Computer Science Education Week Student Contest! They include our very own Dor Holman (6th grade), who proposed a Hobby Matcher app to make friends with shared interests. Great idea, Dor!
If your Chromebook is broken in any way, take it to the Mobile Help Desk! The Help Desk is open Mon.-Fri. 8AM-4PM, and Sat. 10AM-2PM. They're located at CRLS. Come to the service windows beside the garage door, on Felton St. closest to Broadway. Look for the fluorescent pink signs hanging in the window.

Social/Emotional Well-being--Tip of the Week
“It is important to normalize your student’s feelings this week. Having an open conversation with an adolescent about what they see going on in the world can help them to process their feelings, encourage them to ask questions, and share their own thoughts.”
