Equity Update
Starting from last month, we have committed to providing an equity update in the second newsletter of every month. Last month, we began our equity updates with a conversation with our school council about why equity matters to us at RAUC and why we are sharing about the work we are doing.
This month, we are focusing on what we’re doing for staff professional development related to equity. Please check out this video update featuring RAUC Literacy Coach Katie Gribben here:
You can also find a written description on our equity website.
Feb. 4th Community Meeting Recording & Resources
Last Thursday, over 100 caregivers (and some students) thoughtfully participated in our February community meeting. The goals of the meeting were to...
- Share schedule information for both fully remote and in-person learners
- Share information specific to each model (e.g. safety measures for in-person learners) and address model-specific questions
- Get family input on what should be in our orientation for students
Click below for recordings of each section of the meeting:

We know that many questions may still remain. Please continue to reach out with any questions and look out for more information resources from the district and from our school regarding the expansion of in-person learning. Thank you for your grace and patience as we continue to work out the details of this complicated endeavor!
Report Cards & Listening Conferences
- The first semester ended last Friday, February 5 and report cards will be live on Aspen this Friday, February 12.
- If you have trouble accessing your student’s report card, please contact Family Liaison Julia Ho.
- This week, your student’s advisors will also be reaching out to you to schedule a listening conference to occur after February break on Monday, 2/22.
- This conference is a great opportunity for you and your student to share any reflections from this past semester and questions and concerns about this upcoming spring semester.
Reminder: Pick up materials on Thursday, 2/11 & Friday, 2/12
We have new science kits for ALL grades and books and STEM block materials for some students (your student should know if they have materials for them). Please pick these materials up at these times next week:
- Thursday, Feb. 11th (8AM - 5PM)
- Friday, Feb. 12th (8AM - 2PM).
Also, please be sure to drop off any RAUC books that are still at home. More information in the next section.
Reminder: Please return RAUC books!
- We are missing many, many RAUC books. With your help, we are really hoping to get them back so we can continue delivering high quality instruction to all students!
- You can drop them to our Return Books Bin in front of RAUC anytime on Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri (8AM-6PM).

Cambridge Families of Color Coalition Events & Resources
To create more space in the midst of the transition to the expansion of in-person learning, our RAUC caregivers of color group will not be meeting this month. However, there are still several opportunities this month for families of color to connect in the district. Please check out the events hosted by Cambridge Families of Color Coalition (CFCC) below:
Please also check out the following flyer from CFCC with some important information:
Tech Corner
Is your student excited about using technology in new ways? Check out these amazing online afterschool programs: Bio Coding Club, Black History STEM Festival, Intro to Filmmaking (8th grade), MIT CodeIt (students who identify as girls or nonbinary), and more!
If your Chromebook is broken in any way, take it to the Mobile Help Desk! The Help Desk is open Mon.-Fri. 8AM-4PM, and Sat. 10AM-2PM. They're located at CRLS. Come to the service windows beside the garage door, on Felton St. closest to Broadway. Look for the fluorescent pink signs hanging in the window.
Social/Emotional Well-being--Tip of the Week
“Even in the best of times, kids crave structure and order. During times of uncertainty, sticking to routines can help students to feel less anxious and worried. Even if that means a few activities that can easily happen every day like taking a walk, reading, or checking-in after school.”
Healthy Snack of the Week
Here's Cambridge in Motion's Healthy Snack of the Week:
Nutty Yogurt Dippers: Greek yogurt with nut butter drizzled on top, served with apple or pear slices to dip and scoop!
