April 28 Expansion to In-person learning Update

Thank you for submitting the form and responding to our outreach over this past week! We had about 45 families shift to fully in-person learning. Now that we have our numbers for each model, we are able to start planning our schedules for the April 28th shift. Our goal remains to have a high quality learning experience for both our in-person and remote students with as minimal disruption as possible. We will share that information as soon as we are able. We recognize that this unknown is stressful for families and students. Thank you for your patience.

NOTE: When we have finalized a schedule, we will host Q&A sessions for families to make sure everyone is clear on the changes. Stay tuned!

Concerned about your student’s social connections or motivation for school?

Gately Youth CenterWe have three amazing programs up and running with our partners from the Gately Youth Center. Attendance thus far has been small, which is to be expected from a new program. But the students that have participated have loved it and momentum is building!

Check out this short video for an overview or see the flyers below for more information:

Quarter 3 ends Friday, April 9

Just a reminder to check Aspen and have your student reach out to their teacher now if they are missing things. If you want to know more about what your student is working on and how they’re doing, we also encourage you to ask your student to show you some of their work and their feedback from teachers.
If you are not sure how to access Aspen, please reach out to Julia Ho.

Pronoun Video by RAUC GSA (Gender and Sexuality Alliance)

Pronoun Video by RAUC GSA (Gender and Sexuality Alliance)Some students have noticed that there have been comments being made on social media and in-person that, whether intentional or not, are not respectful of gender identity. RAUC 7th/8th students in the GSA have made a video as one reminder of how we can be respectful of gender identity and how much it matters. This video is an awesome example of students really embracing our core values--they are taking responsibility for our commUnity and reminding us to Aim High for a community where everyone feels safe and respected in their full identity. We're asking advisors to show students in advisory, and we wanted to share with families as well. Thank you for your support!

Report on February Listening Conferences

We don’t have any major themes to share, since a main focus of our last listening conferences were timed to make sure all families had a clear understanding of their options as we prepared to shift to hybrid learning on March 1st. Advisors shared questions that were brought up and those helped us finalize our hybrid plans.

February Conferences were also a chance for families to check in about semester 1 grades. As noted in the previous blurb, you can keep track of how your student is doing by looking at teacher feedback on their work.

Social/Emotional Well-being--Tip of the Week

Engage in creativity together. Do something new with your student. Take a walk and make up a story, cook something new, ask them to use their imagination. This can help students to develop their creativity and exploration of new things!

National Nutrition Month:
SNAP & WIC Help Families!

Cambridge in MotionThe Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides money for food to families in need, so there is less worry about food running out at home. The Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Program (WIC) provides healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and other services, free of charge. Are you worried that you won’t have enough food to last the whole month? Have you skipped meals because there wasn’t enough food in your home? These programs can help! From your friends at Cambridge in Motion, a program of the Cambridge Public Health Department, and CPSD Food & Nutrition Services.
