Collecting all school laptops week of June 21st

  • ComputerWe are collecting ALL school laptops and chargers the week of June 21.
  • IF your student doesn’t know where these are, please help them look now!
  • Look out for more details in the future.
  • Friendly reminder: support your student in bringing their fully charged laptop to school EVERY day!
    • We often run out of loaner laptops quickly.
    • That means a student who forgot their laptop has a more difficult time completing work on time!

Equity update

In celebration of Pride month, we want to highlight our work on making our community more welcoming and inclusive for students and families across the gender and sexuality spectrum. We know we’re not perfect, but thanks to our students and faculty, we hope we're moving in the right direction.

  • Pride DayWe’re really proud that our GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) membership has grown tremendously in the past six years.
    • Six years ago, no students joined.
    • Now, we have a GSA for each grade level.
  • Thank you to our GSA advisors Sam Musher (founder), Julia Stoller, & Vicki Leggett!
    • Sam Musher has also helped to plan the first ever district Community Pride Day, happening on Friday, June 10th 3:30-6:30PM. (See flyer on right for more details!)
  • Thank you to our LGBTQ+ students and GSA members who have helped us to become a more welcoming and inclusive environment!
    • They have been willing to advocate when needed and help design professional development for teachers in the last couple of years.
    • They have also created activities for advisories.
    • One change they helped us make: every grade now starts the year ensuring students are addressed by their preferred pronouns.
    • Our list of names for substitutes also includes preferred pronouns.
  • Looking for more resources for your LGBTQ+ student or yourself? Check out these resources from the Family Acceptance Project.

Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns or ideas on how to keep moving our community forward!

  • Spark an interest in computer science topics
  • Create community and school connections

Students will rotate through rooms with different types of computer science experiences led by Cambridge staff and community partner organizations. They will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities such as taking a laptop apart, creating musical instruments, and learning about digital communication with micro:bits.
