Welcome to a New School Year at Rindge Avenue Upper Campus!
I am excited to be preparing to open our fourth year as the Rindge Avenue Upper Campus. We celebrated with our first graduating class to move through all three grades at RAUC with their graduation in June.
The administration and faculty at RAUC are committed to providing the very best middle school experience we can to every one of our students. What does that mean? It means that we work hard to have a strong, rigorist, and challenging academic program that will prepare each of our students for success as they move through each of our grades, on to CRLS and beyond. We are committed to supporting and enhancing the social and emotion growth of each of our scholars. The middle school years are some of the most challenging years in the developmental life of our students. They go through tremendous changed both physically and emotionally and our goal is to help them develop and build strong character traits that we know will help them be successful in life.
The book “How Children Succeed” by Paul Tough names several character traits that lead to a well developed student who is likely to do well in life. We have adopted these traits as our core values and will continue to work with students to identify, define, and show ways to demonstrate these traits. Grit, Zest, Curiosity, Optimism, Gratitude, Empathy, Self-Control, and Risk Taking – are the core values that we will highlight through out the school year. Take time and ask your scholar about which core value we are working on in any given month and join us at our first Families of RAUC meeting on Wednesday evening, October 7, 2015 at 7PM for a presentation about these Core Values.
Lastly, although sometimes over used- it is still true- It takes a village….. We need you, the parents and caregivers to be an active part of your scholar’s education. I challenge you to set a goal this year to attend 5. That means attend 5 different events at the school this year. It can be a Coffee with the Principal, Back to School Night, Families of RAUC meeting, a Student Conference with your child’s teachers, or our Night of Excellence- review the school calendar and make your own calendar to meet this goal! Our school will be a better place if each of you takes this challenge!
I look forward to another great year at RAUC!!
