  • Governor Charlie Baker announced on Friday that effective August 1st, travelers entering Massachusetts — both out of state residents and Massachusetts residents returning home — must complete a “Massachusetts Traveler Form” and must quarantine for 14 days.
    – The only exceptions are individuals traveling from lower risk COVID-19 states and other very specific exclusions. 
    – For more on this and the list of lower risk COVID-19 states, please visit www.mass.gov/MAtraveler. This website will be regularly updated. 
    – FAQ’s will be on the website next week to answer questions about how this change affects child care.

  • Webinar on applying for PPP: Did you know that the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan deadline is now extended until August 8, 2020? EEC and CIF have partnered with the Small Business Administration to host a webinar covering the details of the PPP, the application process for these forgivable loans, and how information on the money can be used.   • Lakeshore Learning has a wealth of free videos that link play and exploration to skills and learning objectives. Most are shown with materials commonly found in homes (with only occasional plugs for materials they sell). They provide good ideas for teachers as well as for parents to do at home.
    – Check out fun ways to use pompoms (or other small balls and objects) with toddlers) here.
    – Or a fun way to use bubbles with preschoolers and older children here.

  • STEAM@Home: Exploring Bubbles on Find It, contains many activities related to bubbles, including this: Try a COVID-19 safe no blow bubble challenge. Use different objects to create large bubble "wands", create large bubbles by moving the "wands" through the air. Check it out!
  • Cambridge Public Library’s Virtual STEAM Story Time takes place on Wednesdays at 11AM. Children and their grownups can enjoy 20-25 minutes of stories and hands-on activities to explore STEAM. Please gather activity materials before the event if you plan to participate. Registration is required. Find out more here.

  • Parents and caregivers who are experiencing any kinds of problems related to their children can call the Parental Stress Line for support: 1-800-623-8188. The Parental Stress Line is staffed by volunteer counselors who are sympathetic and nonjudgmental and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
