Ms Craven Greeting December 15Greetings

Dear RAUC families,

Please click the image for a video message from our Principal, Ms. Craven.  (Ms. Craven wants you to know she meant to say the “calendar year is almost over”, not the “school year!” Oops!)

If you have any questions or comments or would like help connecting to more resources, please email me at [email protected] or phone me at 857.244.0730. Hope you are staying warm as the weather gets colder!

Best,
Julia Ho, RAUC Family Liaison

Thinking of our Ethiopian community

We have been thinking of our Ethiopian community as we watch the reporting of events unfolding in the country. We recognize the complexity of the situation and that it is viewed in different ways by different groups. It is not our place to take a side. We do want to acknowledge the pain and trauma that many are feeling as a result of these events and hope that as a community, we can be a source of healing and support. We want to families to know two things:

  1. We plan to check in with our students in advisory on Thursday through a structured discussion. As a community, it’s important that we know of events that are affecting some of our members. Our purpose is not to take a side as much as to make sure students feel seen and supported. We want to know this is happening so you can check in with your student. If you notice your student needs more support, please reach out to your student’s advisor or the school.
  2. We are ready to stand by you and walk with you for whatever you need. Please reach out to [email protected] or cell 857.244.0730 if there is any way we can help support you or your student.

RAUC Family Partnership Update: RAUC Caregivers of color

We had another small but warm gathering last Thursday for the RAUC caregivers of color gathering. We shared more of our stories, gave some feedback on potential district plans and brainstormed some ideas for our future gatherings. Our next gathering will be in the second week of January. We hope that we can connect with more of you! To vote on when our next meeting will be, please fill out this doodle poll. Do you have any questions or ideas for the next gathering? Please email Julia Ho, Family Liaison: [email protected].

Club Update: RAUC Debate Team Debate imageVirtual Tournament

RAUC Debate team had its first Virtual Tournament of the year this past Saturday. We were joined by the other Cambridge Debate League teams, PAUS and Amigos. There were 40 people virtually attending including caregivers who came to watch! RAUC 1st year debaters did very well with Nora Peirce tied for 7th place best speaker and Madeline Nohrnberg taking 1st place as best speaker. Our tournament was dedicated in memory of 6th grader, Marla Vuksan- a first year debater.

Tech Corner:

7th graders are sharing "Tech Tip Tuesdays" in advisory. The first was about how to set GMail notifications so you know when you have a new email. What tech strategies are working well for your student?

Important update on Help Desk hours and location!

Now that it’s cold, the Help Desk staff will be working inside instead of at the garage. If you have a Chromebook problem, come to the service windows beside the garage door, on Felton St. closest to Broadway. Look for the fluorescent pink signs hanging in the window.

Help Desk hours for the next three weeks below:

  • Week of Dec 14th
    • M-F 8am-4pm
    • Sat. 10am-2pm
  • Weeks of Dec 21st and Dec. 28th (during Break)
    • M-W 8am-4pm
    • Closed Thurs-Sat

Have a question or suggestion for a future Tech Corner? Email Sam Musher, Library Tech Teacher at [email protected].

Social/Emotional Well-being--Tip of the Week

Respect differences. Every child has their own unique talents and abilities. Whether in academics, athletics, or interpersonal relationships, resist the urge to compare your child to friends or siblings. Instead, honor your child's accomplishments and provide support and encouragement for the inevitable challenges they may face.
